Spay and adware infection

I need to find the best free download to remove spy ware etc
I tried spyware begone but it located 40+ spys but then I had to pay to have them removed.
Is there a free, good download product out there that will search and destroy?
Also I want to have another firewall/virus check (again free, I am a tight wad) I have ZoneAlarm at the mo.
win 98 office 2000

spy sweeper
hijackthis

if I were you i would use all of the above.

and also use AVG anti virus

all these are free !!!
