Spanning Tree on Layer 3 switches?

I have a question about spanning tree on layer 3 switches, are the layer 3 switches capble of avoiding loops? or Do I still need to configure STP to avoid loops on layer 3 switches.

Please have a look at the picture in the attachment, do I have to configure STP between core and Closet?

unless those links between the switches are L3 then you will have to deal with spanning-tree

you mean, if the devices on either side of the link are layer 3?

If each of the interfaces on the end of each of the links has its very own IP address then spanning tree isn't going to kick in.

If the IP addresses are sitting on virtual interfaces and the physical interfaces on the end of each link have no IP addresses, then spanning tree has the potential to be used/necessary.
