Hi,
This is kind of related to a problem I posted to a few weeks ago.
ARCserve 2000 SP4
Windows 2000 Server SP3
HP 1/9 Library
HPC7145 Tape Unit
Backup jobs contains 10 windows 2000 server machines to be backed up via the Push Agent (also SP4). Using Ultrium 100/200 tapes the first machine backs up a total of 74GB, then moves onto a new tape for the next machine. This next machine also is around 75GB, but instead of starting on the the first tape it insists on starting the second session on a new tape. Any ideas why it wont span the session? This also occurs on the other machines in the backup. If for instance the tape has 20GB free and the next session requites 21+GB, it will use a new blank tape. I patched the firmware on the HP units to the latest supported by ARCserve and this solved some issues I had with tape capacity and performance. I now get 650-950MB/per sec depending on the data I'm backing up, which is great.
Any info on the spanning thing would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt
