Is there a way to protect or correct issues we're having with spammers using our domain and e-mail addresses associated with it for spamming? Evidently, some of our clients have blacklisted our domain because they are receiving spam with our domain address.

Thanks.

Check the system for outgoing mail as this could be a virus and you just could be sending the messages.

First off, make sure you are not being used as a relay. Secure your server.

The problem with spammers is they have there own mail servers that can say its from ANY domain. For example, if your email address is @1234.com I can set up my mail server to send mail from 1234.com and if the recipient isn't doing reverse lookups then they will accept the mail.

And there is nothing you can do about it really.

Have a look at the mail server forums on how to secure you server.

Verify that your servers are not on any DNS RBLs.
If they are - you're probably open to relay!

It cant be common that spammers use your address as a FROM field spoof, but is possible. Could indeed be a virus... if your clients have a sample of a spam email 'from' you, you could check the headers for ip address, etc.
