I need to implement a program to stop spam... There are so many out there, I am looking at GFI MailEssentials and Brightmail. Any oponions on which one is better or can suggest something else?
We are a small co. 25 mailboxes, just got new server with plenty of space.
Thanks!!

ClearSwift MIMESweeper v5.x

If you buy the support with it they maintain Spam Lists which are updated daily and are used to filter out the Spam content.

Works a treat but it is not the cheapest solution.

If you're using SP2 and have the IMF turned on, that should help. If that's not sufficient, I'd go with GFI. After that, I go with AppRiver, which is outsourced, but works really well. I have a couple dozen clients on it.

In addition to my MIMESweeper recommendation (which has an entry level 25 user license which would suit you nicely) you may also want to think about messagelabs if you would consider an offsite solution.

GFI uses 10 methods OTHER THAN the built-in baysian filter.
thing rocks and is easy to train.
Basically copy good emails into one public folder
and bad ones into another.
the baysian filter trains itself on your emails.
Thing works fine so far.

10 day trial too.

I Second GFI. I have it in 5 sites now. Good thing is that you can tell it to forward junk mail to the junk mail folder in outlook2003, nice feature.

GFI is suberb, much better than trend which i have now turned off after using GFI.

Anyone had feedback on the GFI AV scanner?

John

Iw ould go for GFI as well, it still has the best overall scores and is easy to manage.
