One of my users is having a problem when printing documents from Word 2000. The printed document is losing spaces, that is, words that are separated by a space on the screen are concatenated on the printed page.

The document is using Times New Roman font, and is centre justified.

Has anyone seen this problem?

Thanks in advance

Andrew

Andrew,

Try checking the Format Font Dialog box. Go to the second Tab (Character Spacing) and make sure that the spacing is set to normal (NOT condensed) and the kerning box is not checked.

If these are okay, the only other suggestions I would offer are:
1. Select all and change the font - the same font you are using is fine (if this file was created on a different machine, and the current machine does not have that font - it tries to substitute, and can cause errors).

2. Copy and paste the entire document into a new document, and try printing from there.

Best Wishes,
AngO

You should also check the printer driver and make sure it is the right one for the printer you are using.

I have seen this as well with Adobe Reader. When my users print from it, all the spaces are gone and the words all run together. But the view of it on the screen is fine.
To correct it, I updated the drivers to the printer I was printing to and it fixed it. So it's very likely thats what will solve your problem as well.
