spaces between words

Hello,

Sentences like:

John is eating a lot of apples.
I need some help with this Awk script .
Al , the bear .

Should be turned into:

John is eating a lot of apples.
I need some help with this Awk script.
Al, the bear.

Does someone know how to deal with this? Thanks in advance!
