Hi,

I'm using Exchange Server 5.5 SP4 and I have a problem with space in PRIV.EDB.
Only 40% of the space is used with user's mailboxes. And 60% is occupied by deleted messages.
The Private Information Store is configurated to retain deleted messages by 7 days.
But 90% of the users are POP client.
Because POP clients aren't able to access deleted messages into Exchange server, I wouldn't like to retain their deleted messages in database.
If I change the "deleted itens retention time" to 0, the problem will be solved, but the MAPI Clients (Outlook) will lose the possibility of to restore deleted messages.
Is there a solution to avoid retention of POP client's deleted messages ?
Thanks.

No there isn't

You can set it to 4 days... so they are deleted more quikly.

note: Set a mailbox size limit, because if you don,t your exchange database can grow out of your server and than you are in big trouble...
