Our application uses ODBC to connect to a database. Most customers are using MS SQL Server but a few of the newer ones have decided to use Oracle. One of these customers is getting an ODBC error when attempting to save data in some of the tables. I took the SQL query that is causing the error and entered it in SQL Plus Worksheet and got the following message

ORA-01536: Space quota exceeded for tablespace 'tablespace name'

Is this something our app could be causing or is it caused by something that the DBA needs to change in the database?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Barbara

Hi,
It's your DBA's problem. Each user on an Oracle database is given a default (if not specified) quota of how much tablespace the user is allowed. If you are using one user like a "WEB_GATEWAY" to give access from your application, you could set this quota to unlimited. Of course, someone better keep an eye on the tablespace :)
