I've logged this issue on MS Exchange 2010 forum but haven't got a satisfactory answer so figured I'd post it here as well to get the tek-tip gestalt theories.
If I total up all my users plus their dumpsters mailbox sizes I get a total of say 60GB.
If I total up the disk space in use for all the databases less the database whitespace I get say 100GB.
Thus there is an 'overhead' of 40% which seems excessive according to MS's usual fudge factor of 20%.
Chap on the MS forum suggested the 32K database page size might have something to do with it. I calculated my average message size including shortcutted messages at 26K which would only account for another 5% or so of space.
So still seeking an answer.
Thanks
Neill
