I am supporting a remote SQL server based application which I can only interrogate over the phone via Access and ODBC, with users with no knowledge of SQL. I mention this so that you know that I am unable to look at anything that cannot be easily executed via the VBA immediate window.
In part of my code I start a SQL job using sp_start_job, which works fine. I then wait using a loop until the job is idle, using sp_help_job and @execution_status to check for status number 4 (idle). Unfortunately the job keeps going to status 2 "Waiting for thread" and remaining there.
I have searched high and low for an explanation for what this means, why it happened and how I can stop it, with no luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
