I created a database in Access 2003 which worked fine for months.

My IT department installed SP2 on my machine and now I can't enter any data into the table which underpins my database. The queries, forms, etc all still work fine but when I try and enter data I get a bleep. I have a second PC which doesn't have SP2 installed, just basic Access 2003 and the database still functions fine on this one.

They've tried upgrading to SP3 but still with the same problem.

One thing that may not be relevant, on the the non-SP3 machine when I run the continuous form there's a row at the bottom which is blank and you can move around the records. On the SP3 machine there isn't.

Same login, etc. The database is stored on a share drive.

Any ideas? It's driving me mad. Sam

Your post is somewhat confusing. Is it correct that you have PCs without any service pack, with SP2 and with SP3 running? If so, when you say "...on the the non-SP3 machine when I run the continuous form there's a row at the bottom which is blank and you can move around the records" are you speaking of the machine with no service packs or the one with SP2?

The fact that there is no blank row showing indicates, of course, that the form is Read-Only. Have you shecked it's Properties to see if AllowEdits and AllowAdditions is set to Yes? I don't really see how, but with Microsoft anything is possible, but I suppose in applying the service pack the properties could have been changed.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Yeah, the situation was I had Access 2003 on two PCs in my office with no Service Packs. My usual PC died so I had it rebuilt and had access installed, this time with SP2, and I couldn't add anything to my database. However, from the other machine with access but no service packs installed it all worked fine.

It was a linked Excel spreadsheet so I copied it into an Access Table and it is working fine. Still don't know what the problem was but I'm happier working from an Access table anyway.

Thanks again and have a great Christmas.
