Hi

I just installed SP2 on three of my dev boxes recently and the resulting problems manifested themselves shortly after.

1. This error started to appear in the System Log (several times a minute) - eventually taking down the server:

"An I/O operation initiated by the Registry failed
unrecoverably. The Registry could not read in, or write
out, or flush, one of the files that contain the
system's image of the Registry. "

2. The security on scheduled tasks screwed up - generating a security context error. I had to follow a fix which involved wiping out everything in the Crypto\RSA folder and rebooting (this worked btw, if anyone else has experienced this issue).

3. This error started to occur after restoring databases backed up from an SP1 machine.

"The database owner SID recorded in the master database
differs from the database owner SID recorded in
database 'xxx'."

Not all problems on all boxes which is why I'm about to ask the question - "Has anyone else experienced any of these issues following an SP2 upgrade?" Or are they just 'design' features :)

Cheers guys

Clare

This isn't a bug associated with any SP.
3. This error started to occur after restoring databases backed up from an SP1 machine.

"The database owner SID recorded in the master database
differs from the database owner SID recorded in
database 'xxx'."

This will happen if you ever resoter database from another server.

To find SID mismatches run.

sp_change_users_login 'REPORT'

To fix it the logins the above script finds run

sp_change_users_login 'update_one', '<login>,'<login>'

Thanks for that Paul, but our development team is regularly doing this kind of thing - moving DBs from different environments just to get hold of up to date test data. I'm familiar with orphaned users, but this particular error never occurred until after the upgrade, which is why I mentioned it.
