Did not know SP3 existed. But can't I simply install SP1 and then download the patched as part of the 'updates'?

I heard SP2 slows down the computer, is that true?

Thanks for all the info.

You have to be at at least SP2 to run automatic updates as SP1 is no longer supported.

SP2, in some cases, did slow down the computer however on every computer that I've installed SP3 on I've noticed an improvement in speed.

Cheers.

Thanks, I did a little Google search on SP3 and found it may be a better option than SP2. The only thing I don't like about SP3 is that it comes with IE7. IE7 still has bugs and don't know its really safe. Not that matters cause I use FF3 more then IE anyways.

Thanks.

You might need to have at least SP1 or SP2 installed before SP3 goes in, whereas SP2 can be installed without SP1 being installed.

IE7 is most likely a safer option than IE6, Mostly because as with SP2/3 of XP its fully supported by M$.
I don't know what the support position is with IE6 at present but don't expect IE6 support to continue indefinitely.
Its also a better browser (tabs etc), but that's just my opinion.
The update process will offer IE7 anyway.

no need to stop @ SP2
SP3 includes everything from SP1 & SP2

if you are going this far might as well make a slipstream cd with SP3 & all of the updates in case you ever have to reformat again
