Hello all,

I've installed Win2k3 SP1 on a server machine and two of my applications stoped working! I know that there are new security issues, but I can't find a fix for this problem.
Windows says that my app generated errors and it will be closed, yada, yada, yada.

I thank all the help I can get.

Regards,

We really will be needing some information otherwise we're just guessing.

1. Check the even log for error messages and post them.

2. What are the apps that have stopped working?

Oh really, porkchopexpress, how many apps would just "stop working" simply by applying a microsoft update? I mean how long could the list be? I seriously doubt it would reach from here to..... the end of the universe and beyond, maybe? :)

Porkchop is right, some people just ask a question without the detail. it's easier if hawking specify the app cause maybe one of us had the similar problem :)

Hello!

Sorry for not telling what apps are.
They were developed by our company, and I checked the event log. It only says that the app couldn't star.
I have no more details. I think I'll tell the developers ti install de compiler on that machine.

Thanks anyway.

and while you're waiting for the fix on those apps, go to the windows directory, find the $uninst... for the updates you just did (sort by date), find the spuninst directory inside it and uninstall the updates. Your apps should start working again. go back and see what updates your PC needs OTHER than SP1 and put them in one at a time and check that your apps still work. You may find it's a single update that's causing the problems.

Well,

Guess what? Do you know de new DEP protection in Win2K3 SP1?
That's what was blocking our apps!!!

Now they're working!

Thanks!

Regards!

And a happy new year!
