I have a developer with some foreign language support installed on the development machine (Korean/Vietnamese). This developer recently checked into source safe, some new forms for a C# Windows project.

When these files were checked in, in addition to the standard "CS" and "RESX" files, also checked in were some files with a "VI-VN" and "VI" extension.

Examples follow . . .

frmOne.vi.resx
frmOne.vi-VN.resx

Does anybody know anything about these embedded file extensions? Does anybody know if these files are related to foreign language support that is installed on the developers workstation? Are these files harmful to the rest of the project files?

Stay Cool Ya'll! [smile2]

Yes, those are used to support different languages. For instance, if frmOne.resx contains english strings used in some class then frmOne.vi-VN.resx contains the same strings but in vietnamese language. It could have been frmOne.fr-FR.resx to represent french.

If localization is important to you, you should also create the en-US versions.
