Hello ,

I have been using SQ transformation, and I know it is a trnasformation which has to have in mapping even in simple pass through mappings, but question is why it is required,is it b'cos Informatica wanted it ??

A source qualifier is strictly not a transformation, though you apply filter in it or use it to enforce an override SQL.

The minimum requirement for a mapping is a source, a SQ and a target.

Adding a source to a mapping involves creating both source and a SQ as a starting point. So, yes INFA set this as a requirement.

One way of looking at SQ is it creates the SQL which forms the basis for retrieval of rows from the SOurce... You apply conditions, sort etc... do what ever you want it fetches rows from Source Table....
