Looking for a source for female plugs to mate with M/B chassis fan headers (Asus P5Q) to splice into fan power leads. Want to take advantage of Asus fan utilities.

Also need a source for a case speaker.

Thanks,
Burke

Why bother with trying to modify a fan....just buy them with either a 3 or 4 pin header already attached.
4 pin if poss...speed control..

I would go with something like this if your motherboard has 4 pin fan control headers.

Thanks Martin, but the Antec case comes with three preinstalled 120mm fans. Not sure why they put Molex four pin connectors on the leads. The Asus board has the tiny three pin headers.

You bought the P180 case?

Frankly, 3 case fans aren't necessary. I agree with Martin and for my use, I'd ditch any front fan and replace the top and rear fans with one made to plug into a motherboard header...helluva lot less work.

SVC has a crapload of fans like this one for 10 bucks.

That depends. Also, it can't hurt if done correctly, and make no noise. And in this case, it is definitely done right. I've got no fewer than 4 case fans in my p180 at home, and it's whisper quiet. Of course, I've got a bit going on inside that case as well. [wink]

And I'd go with paparazi on the specific fan recommendation. If you want to look at real reviews, the last one there is from a person who replaced the stock fans in the p180 case.

Intel P45 boards generally don't have the fan speed control function of other chipsets but I believe the Asus P5Q has some sort of proprietory stepped controller that is user sellected.
I also believe the CPU fan header is 4 pin (which you must be using) and then the other fan headers/header are 3 pin type? so you only need one or two replacement fans? $20.....
Not much to pay for peace and quiet.
