Very new to flash and involved in my first project i have at least 7 meg worth of wavs being used in my flash. What i am not understanding is that it seems after publishing that the 7meg gets compressed down to like 400k and the quality of the sounds turns to....how can i say...Blech!! Is there anyway to stop that compression to retain quality of my sounds? What other formats of sounds are supported by flash4? looking for the higest quality of sounds for what i am working on.Thx

In Flash 4, you can import the .wav or .aiff (Mac... I guess) formats only!

Are you using stream on your sound?
If so, have you tried event sound?

Dude... Use Microsofts sound recorder and convert your ".wav" files to raidio quality They will still sound decent, and will reduce their size too.

I use soundrec and have the sounds to high quality but i am not concerned about the size of them i really want to increase the quality.AS soon as i publish them all my sounds become tingy and sound very bad. I am assuming the flash is automatically compressing the sounds and i do not want this to happen. I want to retain the same quality of the sound that i have prepared in my library and not concerned about the size of the published file.

What publish sound settings are you using?

I use Cool Edit too, and there is a good thing in that you can shape the noise when you lower your resolution to fit the key you are composing in and perhaps even the octave. After this, you can filter the noise out. To be frank, I am a musician first and a web developer second (it's just a lot of fun to be honest). It is nearly impossible to achieve totally satisfactory sound resolutions as it stands at the moment. You're listing through a telephone line (basically) and not a hifi. I have a couple of cuts up at if you'd like to hear them, and if you want I'll give you the specs on them. (by the way, be courteous of the web surfer and NEVER force sounds or music upon them. As a music lover, I'm always playing record while online, and nothing pisses me off more than an "off" button not actually working and hearing a bunch of bleeps and trash when I click buttons. Also, don't make people wait for a site to load over a piece of music they might not like. Make it optional, that way they'll like it more!)

Blended

I should have explained better in my first post. I am making a flash .exe. Click the buttons and the sounds play. I have to check what publish setting are there old, to be honest i have made a newb mistake and assumed there was just one setting for publishing. to blender i will check out that program you recomended. thx.
