Hello,

The system can clearly identify the card. The driver is there and is found but the above error comes up everytime.

I am using the UK version called the Platinum Live (non-Pro Logic). The US versions have slightly different names but all these types of cards appear to be known as Emu10K.

Someone please post a reply or I'm going to give up with Linux again. It may be more powerful than Windows but appears to be impossible to set up.

Mandrake 8.1 definitely supports the Live card but from what I can see it should be easy to add the support. The problem in this Linux arena is that everyone speaks geek and already assumes you can do it. Not helpful for a beginner!

Cheers,
Leon.

downlaod the Emu10k driver and install it. YOu can get it from:
After downloading the file type gunzip <filename> to unzip it. then you will have to untar it. type: man tar from console to learn syntax. Once you untar it, go to the directory it creates and read the readme files. It should explain what to do.

Remeber, linux takes a while to learn. It's not as userfriednly as windows, but once you get used the syntax and how things work, it is quite simple to work with. I recommend as an excellent site. I still use it sometimes for certain things. It actually has a simple how to on how to install the Emu10k1 drivers. I used to install mine.

Good luck, and stick in there. ;)

Okay,

I will take a look.

It seems to work fine with the Pnp setting on my motherboard turned off.

Leon.
