Sound Problem

I have a couple of MP3s on an NT machine. I use WinAmp 2.x to play them. The problem is that everytime that I want to play on the volume goes all the way down to zero. I go into the Control Panel and reset the volume but it goes down to zero everytime it plays a different song. What is wrong with this thing?

Re-install or upgrade Winamp (if possible, don't know the latest version no.)
