sound on pc

I have this weird problem when I play a mp3 on my computer it sound funny.It sounds OK when I play a cd.it like a quickly voice. I don't know how to fix it. it not the speakers because i tried it on my friends computer. i tried ply around with sounds and audio devices setting in control panel. but is it still sounds funny. can some one please help.....(i have no clue what i am doing) it all stared when i installed my new cd burner, i made my cd and played it on winamp and it stared to sound funny.....please help
