Can i configure Outlook 2000 to play a specified .Wav file (or other sound format) when mail is received into my mailbox rather than just a system beep

Thanks

I've got mine set up this way:

1. Click on Tools -> Rules Wizard.
2. Click on the "New" button.
3. Check "Check messages when they arrive" and click on the "Next >" button.
4. Check "Received in a specific date span".
5. In the "Rule Description" window, click on the "in a specific date span" phrase.
6. Select the "After" selection and scroll to yesterday's date and click on the "OK" button.
7. Click on the "Nex >" button.
8. Scroll down to and check "play a sound".
9. In the "Rule Description" window, click on the "a sound" phrase.
10. Navigate through your folders and locate the .wav file you want to play. Select it and click on the "Open" button.
11. Click on the "Nex >" button.
12. If you want to add exceptions, select them here.
13. Click on the "Nex >" button.
14. Name the rule. Make sure the "Turn on this rule" selection is checked.
15. Click on the "Finish" button.
16. If you have other rules, move this rule up or down according to your preference.
17. Click on the "OK" button.

Send yourself a test message to verify that the rule works. Remember to be sure your wav sounds are not muted.

actually,

if you're using Outlook as your default mail client, you can go to Start, Control Panel, Sounds, and scroll down to New Mail Notification. then browse to the .wav location.

hope this helps.
