We have 5621SW IP phones and when the users put the phones on speaker the quality is horrible. The user on the other end will fade in and out and the only way to hear them is to put the phone on mute while they are talking. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be causing the problem?

IP Office 4.12
System is Grounded
switches are HP Proliant POE

those phones have a 2-way speaker not full duplex so the sounds is not always great. noise in the room can cause this. lots of things can do it.

You could try to turn off AGC (Audio Gain Control) in the phone menu.

Kwing112000 is right, this is really the 2-way speaker behavior you are talking about.
You could try an upgrade to 6.1 and use the 9600 serie phone which are full duplex.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

the 9600 phones only work on the IP500 so if you have a 406 or 412 you may be out of luck.

True and i think the 4.12 means he has a 412.
