Hello

I have Packard Bell speakers and Packard Bell (power consumption 20W) woofer which do not seem to be working
(at least only dim sounds seem to come from them!). I have had it working in the past, but I have moved
everything, and now I can't remember how it was all set-up!

I have a SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio device (Analog Devices Inc is the manufacturer). Device Manager informs me that the device is working properly. I don't think the sound card is the problem.

The way the speakers are set up is as follows: coming from the woofer, I have a lead with an on/off switch attached to the end (plus bass and volume controls). This seems to be working in that the little red light comes on when I tuen the switch to the 'on' position.

Then there is the leads cable which plugs into the mains. So far, so good.

There is another lead, about 9"-long. I have no idea where this goes, but I don't think it plugs into the PC tower, since it is far too short to reach there, and the 'plug'
has a sort of 'hollow' at the end (as if something should plug into).

There is a further lead (please note that none of these leads plugs in either of the speakers) with a thickish 'pin' type of connector at the end - as if it should plug into somewhere (there is a 'hole' type of plug in the bottom of my monitor with the word 'audio' next to it and I wondered if it should plug in there, though why it would be inserted in the screen panelling I do not know.

I have two separate speakers, each with its own cable, except that they join together into a 'pin' type plug which is inserted in the PC tower. I have red, green, and blue sockets and this speaker cable I have in the green socket.

So, I can her sound, but not very well!

Any advise appreciated.

For me, its hard to understand what you mean. But one suggestion i can make is that you take it to a computer store. Surely they will, for free, have a quick look and it and tell you where each plug goes.
