sound effects problem with mx

I inserted an mp3(22k file)sound effect in a layer and when I published it to html and flash, the sound is in synch with the scene. However, when I tried exporting it to avi, the sound was delayed (or slow) and was distorted. Then I tried converting the mp3 to wav and inserted it, same result. I'm new with flash and would appreciate any help.
