I had to reinstall windows 98. When I try to install the sound back in it came up saying new device CM18330 audio adapter found but when I search for drivers for this sound system it does not find any. Does anyone know what drivers I need? [sig][/sig]

B-)
What sound card do you have? If you have the cd that came with your sound card. Pop it in, and specify it to look at the disk for drivers. OR. Go to and type in your error and or sound card name. you'll either find out more about the error or get drivers for it!
Hope this works!

Hey! Sunshine80

This is just plain old sunshine. I am assuming that what yoy have is an onboard sound chip You should have got a CD for this board, and it should have a directory on it called "Sound". there should be drivers in that folder for Win95/98. There should also be a folder called "Manual" which should have instructions on how to install the drivers. If it is PnP Windows should be able to set it up as a Windows Sound System board using WSS drivers.

The CMI8330 chip is a Sounblaster16 or WSS compatable chip and can be configured either way. I am using one of these onboard chips and am running Win98SE and Linux Mandrake on a single machine. I did have a few problems with Linux to get it to work but, Windows was no problem.

Hope this has been some help.

Google Rules, you can also use it for finding fixes for illegal operations. It's a CMI 8330 sound chip, probably on board.
Just do a search for CMI drivers in any search engine. [sig]
Jim
reboot@pcmech.com
<a href= & Sue's Free Files
Current moderator at Staff contributor/moderator at Windows 9x/ME instructor.
