sound blaster live value / win xp compatability problem

I have a sb live value soundcard and i only get sound out of one of its two outputs under win xp. i've installed the new MS drivers for sb live value but it still doesn't work. anyone have suggestions? thanks.

athlon 1.2
dfi ak76 ddr ram mobo
geforce 2 gts graphics
etc...
