How can I sort records within a group based on a formula field that contains a running total field?

I am accumulating running totals of sales by customers in a group based on a date-limiting formula linked to a date parameter field. I then take this running total and manipulate it within a formula field which is displayed within each customer in the group.

I want to sort the customers by the results of this formula ascending, but the formula field is not listed in the Sort Records or Top N/Sort Group as a sort parameter.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

You cannot group on formulas that contain summary fields.

I wish I could offer some advice, but I am also struggling with a similar problem:

I am writing a report in CR 8 that compares the performance of sales representatives based on a number of criteria (performance to various quotas). I would like to sort the sales associates by their performance, but I cannot determine where each person falls in that ranking without first summing/manipulating their numbers.

Does anyone know of a way to perform the number analysis and then sort/group based on the results?

Thank you in advance!
