Hi guys i have a problem... I have a report with a few fields..

First_Nm,Last_Nm,M,Date,SocSecID

What i want to do is on open of the report i would like for the user to have a combo box with the day month and year.

so that i can pick for the day (1-31 or pick any)..then go to the right and pick the month (i can pick 1-12 or any) then for the year i can pick (year or any)

i would like a drop down for this but i think i would use whatever is easiest for the user to use.

another thing i wanted is that if there isn't any information on the Date field for it not to be displayed. I tried using the wizard and i grouped everything by the monthly day but i would like to be able to pick which dates to display? Thanks, PAUL

Are you trying to only show/report information for a specific date range?

right but i would like the user to be able to specify the range by being able to choose what day...what month...and what year.. like if the user choose...

day = *
month = 10
year = 2002

this would bring up all records in october of 2002

but i want the user to be able to switch these around and use different combinations? is this possible to do? Thanks, PAUL

Im not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I run reports based on date criteria, like I want to see all of the sales calls for January. Rather than doing this in the actual report, I do it in the query. In the criteria of the date field of the query, I have a between statement like this:

Between [Enter Beginning Date] and [Enter Ending Date]

This creates a pop-up before the date is run where I type in (not a drop down menu) the date range.

However, it seems like you may have the actual month names, etc. stored in your db. If this is the case, you can use a like statment in the criteria of the month field like this:

Like [Enter Month or * for All]

Again, this creates a pop-up where you can enter in the name of the month. You can also use an asterisk like this dec* rather than typing the whole word. You can put this same statement in all of the fields where you want to run the query based on specific criteria.

Note: the text that you type between the brackets is the actual text that appears on the pop-up.
