Sorting files by creation date

When migrating the content of my companies intranet to sharepoint the OS sets the last modified date of the files to the date they were moved. This means that sorting the files by date in sharepoint is useless. Is there any way to sort by creation date rather than las modified date in the documents folder and catagories.
