Sorting Data

Hi I have a distinct count on one of my fields by a grouping and I want to sort the data from higest to lowest based on this count for my selected grouping. However it is not an option to sort by this summary? I tried creating a formula to replicate the summary and then sort by the formula instead but it still will not make the formula an available as asort option (I think because it is still really a summary e.g. a count by the condition of a group).

Can anyone help?

You need to right click on the field in the detail section and insert a summary (distinctcount) on it at the group level. This activates the group sort (Creating a formula for distinctcount does not). Then go to report->group sort and choose "All"->sort by distinctcount of your field->descending. This will sort the groups in order of the distinctcount.

thanks, it worked great. i already had the distinct count set up, I just never realised that was where the group sort option was!!!
