I have an Excel 2003 spreadsheet. I protected the worksheet using the Tools | Protection | Protect Sheet menu option. In the "Allow all users of this worksheet to:" list, I have checked the "Sort" option. Yet when I attempt to perform a Sort, I am presented with a warning message telling me I have to remove the protection first. I also checked the "Format Cells" option and I am able to format the cells without getting the warning message. Is this a bug in Excel, or am I possibly doing something wrong here? Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

In order to be able to sort, ALL the cells in the table COLUMNS, (including the HEADING), must be UNLOCKED before protecting the sheet.

Skip,

for a NUANCE![tongue]

Thank you Skip...that was it. I wasn't the one who created the spreadsheet, so I didn't know that the cells were locked.
