Hi,

I have problems whith the function sort, when I am drilling down whith the function sort on the child catagories are displayed wrong because of the values. Is there a way to avoid this problem???

Thanks,

MiRRo

Hello Mirro,
Make sure that in Transformer, that the child catagory is sorted. Right click on the field, proporities, order by button.

PP seems to like sorting at the top level & does not want to sort the bottom children, within the parent. If you sort, you get everything sorted, regardless of parent-child relationship.

Also to check are you sorting in PP by VALUE?

Cheers

Hi Bruce :),

Yes I am sorting in PP by Value, will that give problems??
Thx for your advice!

Hi Mirro

Yes, as you will have a conflict- does PPES sort by value or alphabetically? It's very unlikely that two different sorts will gave the same result.

What are you trying to to exactly?

Bruce

I want to drilldown sorted. Now when I have an report sorted by value. When I drilldown and the value of a childcatagorie is higher then the parent catagorie he shows that specific catagorie above in my report. I want him to be sorted in my drilldown. I hope I was clear to you. If not I will try again.

Cheers,

Murat

Use the Advanced subsets to do this sorting within categories.

Create an advanced subset to include all the levels you want to show. Then go onto the Edit-value by right-clicking on the subset. Use the restrict-by-value button & change it to a larger number than the default 10. Once this is done, the subset will be sorted by the values, but sorted by the original parents' order.

For example:

Parent ABC (alpha sort)
...10000 (descending value sort)
...8600
...3000
Parent DEF
...125000
...98444
etc.

A bit of a work around but effective.
