Hi!

In my report I created a join (which works) and then PRINT some data and sort with BY or ACROSS.

The problem is that the field by which I'd like to sort my data is only in one of the two databases which I joined. As soon as I try to print some field from the second database and use the sort field from the first database I receive an error FOC030.

I thought that after a join the before separate data is treated like one database. Yet this seems not to be the case here...

Does anybody know what's wrong here?

Eva

Hi Eva,

The response from Focus and your question suggest that you are working with hierarchical files. Is this correct?

Can you send me the master-files and the join-clause?

Much depends on the segments that are joined and how you are requesting the sort. If you use JOIN command without the keyword ALL you will get a one to one JOIN (this may or may not be your case) and then the two segments are treated as one and you will not have this issue. Post the results of a CHECK FILE filename PICT after your JOIN and you will get a view of the structure.
