When I try to view my report I get an error message "You must define a sort field or expression for the group header or footer in the report you tried to preview or print", while my report doesn't have any grouping! In design view I only see Report Header, Page Header, Detail, Page Footer and Report Footer. The Code window doesn't show any group objects, but the Documenter does show a Group Level 0 object. Repairing the database doesn't help. How can I get rid of this spurious Group?

Thanks in advance.

Sometimes a report or form somehow gets out of sync. I have tried fixing this kind of stuff in the past and have found that it is better to copy your controls one section at a time and paste them in a new report. Also copy your code and paste that also. Make sure that all of the controls maintain their names so that the code will work properly.

Check out your code in the current report and see if there is any event procedure listed with or without VBA code in it for the group that is causing you problems. Just an afterthought here.

Good luck.

Hello Bob,

There was no group event procedure showing. However, your first suggestion solved the problem straight away. Thanks a lot for a very useful tip!
