Soooo many tags

Why does frontpage create so many html tags??

It creates a font tag, then there is text, then it closes the font tag. Next paragraph it opens the same exact font tag as in the previous paragraph. Why does it do this?? Is there a benifit to closing and opening the font tags at every paragraph?
