Hi, I'm new to Miva, I recently got signed up with apollohosting and with it I received Miva Merchant 4.14. This is what has happened. I am designing my webpage completely using dreamweaver/fireworks because I want a very professional customized site. What I am wondering is how far am I able to integrate my website?? For example, I have created how I would like the shopping cart to "look" it is not yet programmed in, when I am ready to program will I be able to integrate the miva codes so that it displays the contents of the customers shopping basket on the webpage that I have created in Dreamweaver. Miva is a great tool but some of the way that they lay out their webpages I just do not like. If someone takes a look at that is how customized my webpage is. I have a lot of different things that are extremely specific and customized. If anyone out there is good at Miva and can take a few minutes to answer some of my questions that would be great. Thank you so much in advance. If you have any questions that would better help you answer this question please let me know.

First, for the benefit of onlookers, let me clarify that "Miva" and "Miva Merchant" are not interchangeable terms. "Miva" can also mean "Miva Script", the scripting language that Miva Merchant uses. There is also Miva Order, a slimmed-down Miva Merchant.

There is some customization (colors, fonts, some aspects of layout) that can be done within the MM admin interface. There is considerably more that can be done with just a few inexpensive add-on modules from 3rd-party vendors, such as Category & Page Templates. I've also heard of MM users that essentially take the entire MM output and place it inside a table cell, with their own content in the outlying area.

The upside of v4.14, which you have, is that it is compiled and runs about 3x faster (WAG) than v4.13 and previous versions.

The downside of v4.14 is that it is compiled - you can't edit the MMUI.MV script file to tweak it (well, you can if you buy the compiler, I suppose). --------------
