Hello everyone!
I have a Sony Notebook model PCG-956A. The problem I'm having is the memory which is located unerneath the notebook computer. When both 128mb Simms are in the slots, it shorts out the computer. It uses PC100 Simms.

Someone told me to simply apply a piece drypaper towel between the chip and the case. This does not always work. Is there another solution? I tried other chips in the one slot. They work fine. However, I cannot place another chip in slot 2. I'm using Windows ME.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Your system is OK for 512m. 100 speed. Have you tried one stick at a time? Do they both work independently? Are they both 100 speed? Sometimes the sticks have to be the same brand (chip speeds matching, density, and other junk).

Yes, I have tried on stick at a time. They both work independently. The sticks are the same brand , PC100U-222-620, 128mb Sync 100MHz.

The power goes on. However, it does not boot up. It it a screen with the cursor blinking at the upper left. This occurs when both sticks are installed.
