I'm having real trouble getting the Sony TSL-S11000 to work with Solaris 2.7 and mtx-1.2.15 (and above). The system has been set up according to the SONY documentation at (including setting DIP switches as instructed, and making necessary modifications to the /kernel/drv/st.conf file). However, I repeatedly get the following error when I run "mtx -f /dev/rmt/0 status":
mtx: Request Sense: Long Report=yes
mtx: Request Sense: Valid Residual=no
mtx: Request Sense: Error Code=70 (Current)
mtx: Request Sense: Sense Key=Illegal Request
mtx: Request Sense: FileMark=no
mtx: Request Sense: EOM=no
mtx: Request Sense: ILI=no
mtx: Request Sense: Additional Sense Code = 20
mtx: Request Sense: Additional Sense Qualifier = 00
mtx: Request Sense: Field in Error = 07
mtx: Request Sense: BPV=yes
mtx: Request Sense: Error in CDB=yes
mtx: Request Sense: SKSV=yes
mtx: Request Sense: Field Pointer = 00 00
READ ELEMENT STATUS Command Failed
When I run "mtx -f /dev/rmt/0 noattach status" I get the following:
Storage Changer /dev/rmt/0:1 Drives, 8 Slots ( 0 Import/Export )
Data Transfer Element 0:Full (Unknown Storage Element Loaded)
Storage Element 1:Full
Storage Element 2:Empty
Storage Element 3:Full
Storage Element 4:Full
Storage Element 5:Full
Storage Element 6:Full
Storage Element 7:Full
Storage Element 8:Full
which seems to be some valid output.
HOWEVER, and here's where things get really screwed up, I cannot issue any load, unload, next, first, previous commands -- they all return errors:
