I have the SDT7000ME ext. tape drive connected to a RISC 6000 aix system in several different locations(ie shops). The tape drive will back-up one day and fails the next in the same location. It may go a week with good backups and the next 4 or 5 days failing. There is no pattern to follow, When it fails I get error codes like scsi, tape drive failure, tape operation,backed-up 23 of 25 files, checksum, etc. The drive fails in one location and I can install the same drive on another RISC6000 system with same O/S and it will back-up ok. Open for any suggestions.
