I have two tape drives (both SONY) SDT-7000, and SDT-9000. The SDT-7000 says it emulates DCLZ, DDS, DDS2 etc. The tape drive I took out of the system is a DCLZ compatible drive (HP). I can't for the life of me get the SONY to work on HP-UX 10.20. I spoke to a few friends who said they upgraded to a DDS3 but purchased the HP SureStore drive (HP). The drive is going into an HP9000 K-class server. They made no modifications to software it was picked up by the OS and backs up in approx 2.75 hours. The SONY in my system is detected by SAM, however takes 7+ hours to backup. Both systems have same software, OS level, comparable file sizes etc. Any info? Thanks.
