I get a blinking light on Fan/Temp after I replaced my lamp, I am wondering if that is what caused the first lamp to burn??

What is the model of the Sony? What's the bulb #?

Sony VPL-XC50, and the bulb model is Sony LMP 600, they told me it was compatible with this model projector.

nick,

A couple of suggestions:

1) The fan is broken. Can you hear the fan running?
2) Internal temperature is too high. Check to ensure nothing is blocking the ventilation holes.

Open the unit up and physically check everything again.

I can hear the fan running, but there may be something covering it that makes it heat up, let me check it out again, thanks again BFOJ.

I took out the lamp and powered on the unit, and the fan/temp light comes on within 5 minutes, seems to me that the internal fan is not working properly. I am not sure it would be worth replacing the internal fan as the cost of new projectors are now under $1K.

Well, you could always price the cost of a fan and take into account how difficult it may be to replace. I too have looked at the new lower cost projectors. Just ensure you get one has enough lumens and can handle a large enough room that you plan on using it in, plus the cost of a replacement bulb, warranty, etc. You might want to check some reviews of any models that you might consider. Good luck!
