I have a client who has a Sony Vaio mini notebook - PCG 141A. She had someone load a custom software program and now the video is loused up. It looks ok, but it does not fill the screen like it did before. There is a blank border on both sides about 2" wide - the rest of the screen is ok. She really needs to use this software, so uninstalling is not an option. Graphics adapter is ATI Rage Mobility M1 PCI, O/S is winME. Any help/ideas would be most appreciated!!

Re-set the resolution.

Right click on the desktop, select properties.
Click the Settings tab
Increase resolution (if it is at 640x480, try 800x600)

That should do the trick! Mudskipper

Thanks for the tip, mudskipper. I should have mentioned that I already tried this. It changed the resolution, but not the overall screen size - the borders remained on the sides.

Basically, when you get that border, you are just not running the LCD at optimal settings. Usually, this is caused by too low of a setting on the resolution. Did you try 1024x480?

If that was not it, and all video settings SEEM fine, then I would jump straight to re-installing the video drivers. To do this, try the ones off of the CD that came with the Laptop (if any). You can also try to download them from Sony's website or ATI's website.

I am doubtful that you will find them on ATI's site, as the last time I looked for Rage Mobility drivers there, I could not locate them!!!

Hope this helps--please post back with more info or updates! Mudskipper

Thanks, mudskipper. Unfortunately, 1024x480 was not an available option. I agree that reinstalling drivers is next. I think she has the originals, and I've found some on the 'net. I'll keep you posted.
