Sony HandyCam and software issues

I have a Sony HandyCam and after loading the software for the cam to download to my pc I can't burn it to a dvd. I get an error message stating that the dvd is not the correct type. I am using Sony DVD-RW DVDs(funny).

There are 2 different types of dvds. There are dvd rw+ and dvd rw - . Some support both, some support one or the other. Check and see which yours support and see what dvd's you have.

According to the manual for the handycam it supports both, and the dvd burner is an HP dvd burner with lightscribe, which I assume should be able to process the dvds also.
