I recently bought Windows XP. I formatted my harddrive to install the software. I have two cd machines in my system. One of them is a Yahmaha burner, the other is the Sony CDU5211 cd rom. I have installed from the sony my anti virus, macromedia software, microsofts trips & streets. Then I was going to install microsft office, but then decided to install easy cd creator platinum. It installed properly from the sony, however my cd rom does not work anymore. This happened once before and I thought my cd rom just died so I bought this one, the sony. Is easy creator messing it up? Is there anyone else that had this same problem?

Can you just clarify what you mean by not working....is it showing up as a drive? are you getting error messages? Have you tried removing it in device manager then rebooting?

Sorry. Yes it does read as a drive. I also removed it from device manager and it installed by itself. It opens, I insert a cd, close and the green light is on for about three seconds then does nothing. I look in my computer, click the cd-rom and says that "E:\ is not accessible. Incorrect Function" The last time this happened I thought it was my Cd rom burning out on me S I bought a new one..which is the one I now have a problem with.

What originally burned the CD? You may not have its software on your machine. If it's a new CD, then Win XP will be unable to read it since it hasn't been written to.

EZ CD Creator causes so many problems with Windows XP. Have you tried uninstalling it and installing Nero or another burn software.
