SONY Autoloader tape drive TSL-S1100 not compressing

Having problems with the above and Arcserve 7 for Netware, although compression is set and we are using the correct tapes they will not save anything greater that 20GB. I know that you cannot expect 40GB but the tapes do not seem to be compressing at all.

Any solutions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
