Greetings!

I am trying to connect to a server at work behind a
Sonicwall SOHO3 that is setup for VPN. I am using the
Sonicwall VPN CLient 8.0 to establish the tunnel from
home. At home I have a cable modem that is connected into
a MN-500 wireless base station. The particular computer
(Win XP) that I am using is directly connected into the
MN-500 via Ethernet cable (not wireless). The entire home
network has no problems; I can browse the Internet, get
email, etc. from every computer.

When I activate the Sonicwall VPN Client, I cannot
establish a connection to the server at work. Examining
the Sonicwall log, I can see the following take place:
IKE Responder: Received Aggressive Mode request (Phase
1), IKE Responder: Aggressive Mode complete (Phase 1),
IKE Responder: Received Quick Mode Request (Phase 2), IKE
Responder: Accepting IPSec proposal (Phase 2), IKE
Negotiation complete. Adding IPSec SA, VPN TCP SYN, VPN
TCP SYN, VPN TCP SYN, VPN TCP SYN, Received IPSEC SA
delete request from my home IP.

I am assuming that all the negotiating and authentication
has taken place and has been accepted by the Sonicwall;
then the MN-500 terminates the session. The reason I
am "blaming" the MN-500 is that when I disconnect the
computer from the MN-500 and plug the cable modem
directly into the computer, I connect via the VPN client
instantly. There must be some setting in the Broadband
Network Utility that I am missing. According to
Microsoft's Broadband Networking website, the MN-500
supports IPSec VPN clients.

Your MN-500 doesn't have an ipsec filtering enabled. The default is disable. You need to configure your MN-500 filtering or forwarding function.

I'm not for sure i understand exactly your problem but as my experience with sonicwall SOHO3 configuration (vpn) you must import the group vpn of sonicwall into the vpn client (your computer at home) then insert the Pre-shared key too.
The first of all you have to create the group vpn in the sonicwall the export this configuration into the floppy disk
the second install vpn (v8.0)in the workstation or computer client (the end) and import the group vpn security policy into the vpn client then enter the pre-share key in the my identity
that is the way i'm done on my job I have many user who work from home some of they has DSL, some of they has Cable and another uses modem dialup via ISP (as aol,msn,etc...)all of them work fine
good luck

P.S: you can also lookup the connect after installed vpn
right click on the vpn icon in the stray bar then seclect Log view and Connect monitor or you will see the letter ON on these icon
