I have a Sonicwall VPN that disconnects when users on the remote end connect to the Windows 2003 domain ( the appliance must be reset for the connection to re-established). I tested the appliance outside of our network locally and did not encounter any similar issues. The ISP insists that the pass through on their side is setup correctly. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, I have five other VPN appliances that are configured exactly the same as this one and they don't have a problem.

Thanks

IPSEC or SSL VPN?
What version of VPN/SSL software?
What appliance (make/model)?
What firmware code?
What OS on the remote end workstations?

What is your name? What is your quest? What is the air speed velocity of an unlaiden swallow?

Oooh, what, I, uh, I don't know that...AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...

lol

Thanks for your interest.

The Firmware is SonicOS Standard 3.1.0.7-77s.
The VPN appliance is a Sonicwall VPN TZ 170 Standard.
The remote clients are a running Windows XP.
I believe IKE is the security protocol ( IPSEC).

Please let me know if more information is needed.
Thanks!

Since this is a TZ170, then it's IPSEC. So what is the rev of VPN client your using?

You OS is really old (July 2005). The latest rev is version 3.1.5.0s (October 2007). Try updating to that first, then see if you still have the problem.

Also in your original statement about "the ISP insists that the pass through on their side is setup correctly"... what does that mean? Is the ISP manipulating traffic for you for any reason?

By pass through I meant that NAT is turned off and DHCP is disabled. So, it is passing traffic straight through. Sorry for the unclear description. I will try to update the software and get back to you.
Thanks.

Updating the firmware/Software seemed to take care of the problem. ( this is a little strange because I have four other similar VPNs with the same firmware and they never had any issues like this).

There might some dynamic in relation to network or software that happens at that site that doesn't happen at your others.

Glad your back up and going and that I could assist.
