I am trying to connect a firewall to my network and am having a difficult time. This is what I have so far: I have in my network a DSL modem in bridge mode, a linksys router with PPPOe enable with DHCP. The router also have the ip of 192.168.1.1 and a public internet ip. I also have an unmanaged switch. I want to put the sonic wall between the switch and the linksys router. I have setup DHCP on the sonicwall and have configured X0 (LAN)as 192.168.1.1. This will give my clients addresses on the 192 network range which is what I want. I have three other public addresses I can use and believe that one of them goes on X1 (WAN) of the sonicwall. Can somewhat tell me what I must do to the router to have it communicate with the sonicwall? Thanks

why don't you get rid of the Linksys and just replace it with the Sonicwall ? You don't want two devices set with DHCP anyway

I should have explained...I am getting DHCP off the Linksys, but dont I need the router to do just that...route my traffic to the internet?

I think your Sonicwall should be capable of that, you just route all traffic to the outside interface

Right now I have a bridged DSL modem attached to the router and the router is running PPPOe. You are saying that I can get rid of the router, give the sonic wall port (X1) a public IP, run PPPOe and I'm good to go?

I'm not that familiar with Sonicwall but that should work in theory
